Pipeline heating
In cold climates, fluid pipelining often needs to be heat traced to maintain temperature. The use of self regulating heating cables can avoid pipeline burst caused by freezing, or prevent the material in chemical pipelines from viscosity increase or crystallization and finally become immovable.
Instrument and control tube heating

Oil Drilling & Refining
When pumped from the ground, crude, especially those contain high level of wax, will face substantial increase in viscosity caused by lower surface temperature and add to the resistance during transportation.
